The Base Scout San Francesco in Altavilla Milicia, a building confiscated from the mafia and run by the MASCI community of Trabia, is hosting for three weeks from 1 September a group of Polish students carrying out archaeological research at the church of Santa Maria di Campogrosso, known locally as the “Chiesazza”. The campaign is coordinated by Prof. Sławomir Moździoch, who has directed the research at the site for several years. The project, begun with non-invasive and archaeometric investigations, aims at the study of the church and of the role of the Normans in shaping medieval Europe. The hospitality results from the collaboration begun in 2022 between the municipality of Altavilla Milicia (Mayor Giuseppe Virga), Prof. Moździoch and the MASCI community.
